ZionTPS 1.2 Overview

ZionTPS is a modular third-person locomotion controller for Unity 6. It provides a clean, extensible foundation for movement, camera control, input, animation setup, and practical editor tooling without forcing a complete game framework into your project.

Version 1.2 focuses on a more polished camera experience, more dependable crouch and roll behaviour, safer generated-player setup, and a refreshed showcase environment for testing and presentation.

What ZionTPS Includes

What Changed in 1.2

Camera polish

  • Distinct Default, Combat, and Aim profile defaults
  • Runtime profile switching support
  • Camera recenter support
  • Improved collision pull-in, recovery, close-range framing, and player visibility handling
  • Sprint FOV and stance-aware camera behaviour for crouch and roll
  • Clearer profile tuning through ScriptableObject presets

Movement reliability

  • Crouch physically resizes the CharacterController
  • Low ceilings safely prevent the character from standing up too early
  • Cleaner jump take-off and grounded-state handling
  • Configurable air-control and roll exit behaviour
  • Improved crouch and roll state stability

Setup and demo workflow

  • Improved Setup Wizard camera-profile generation and defaults
  • Better generated-player and clean-scene testing workflow
  • Updated Setup Wizard tutorial, Quick Start, camera guidance, and troubleshooting notes
  • Refreshed showcase demo with improved lighting, skybox, materials, ramps, crouch cover, and camera test spaces

Recommended First-Time Workflow

  1. Import ZionTPS into a Unity 6 project and enable the Unity Input System.
  2. Open Tools > ZionTPS > Setup Wizard.
  3. Assign a visual-only humanoid model or FBX.
  4. Assign an existing Animator Controller, or provide the required Idle, Walk, and Run clips.
  5. Generate the player and camera rig into a fresh output folder.
  6. Test movement, camera collision, recentering, crouch, roll, and jump in Play Mode.
  7. Run Diagnostics and confirm there are no recurring Console warnings or errors.
  8. Verify a Windows build before integrating the controller into a larger project.

What ZionTPS Does Not Force

ZionTPS is deliberately focused on locomotion. It does not require you to adopt:

  • inventory systems
  • quest systems
  • stat systems
  • UI frameworks
  • combat frameworks
  • AI, dialogue, multiplayer, or full RPG systems

Those systems can be layered on top through your own code or separate modules.
